The Future of CU Real Estate
Lending - Mercy Jimenez, SVP – Fannie Mae
Since the early 1900s, credit unions in
the United States have existed to serve
the best interests of all people, especially
those with modest means. Credit Unions
have a rich and humble history of
reaching the larger, mostly underserved
communities in our nation – now
referred to as the “surging markets” – by
pooling member resources so that others
can benefit from obtaining loans that
could greatly improve their lives.
Mercy Jimenez will address attendees
on how your credit union can “Ride
the Wave of Surging Markets!” in your
community and significantly boost your
credit union’s bottom line.
Key highlights will include: how to
size up surging market opportunities,
conducting deep assessments of surging
market borrower needs, and preparinga roadmap for growing your credit
union’s membership beyond traditional
markets into larger, more culturally
diverse communities. She will also
identify key advantages that credit unions
have in serving their members through
multicultural lending practices, and share
recent product enhancements and tools – such as MyCommunityMortgageTM
and Home Counselor OnlineTM -
offered by Fannie Mae that can assist you
in helping underserved borrowers in your
area become homeowners.

Ward has worked in the mortgage
