Upcoming Events
March 17 and 18, 2011 Hosting Credit Union and Meeting Location: 2011 Meeting Schedule/ Meeting Dates March 17th and 18th MembershipFlorida Credit Union Real Estate Network or Florida CUREN membership The Florida CUREN is open to employees of Florida Credit Unions and Florida Credit Union Service Organizations that are either interested in developing a real estate program for their membership or already have an active real estate program. We currently have a network of 34 Florida Credit Unions that are actively participating in our Florida CUREN and represent over $15 billion in assets and 2 million credit union members in Florida Credit Unions. The benefits of this membership are many. Members have the ability to network with other credit union real estate professionals with similar questions and needs this can greatly improve the knowledge and skills of your staff. We invite guest speakers from secondary market entities, realtors, compliance attorneys, credit bureaus, PMI companies, and other professionals to educate us on matters that impact our business. Our meetings encourage networking and each meeting encourages a roundtable discussion of current topics and questions on any of the attendees’ agenda. We also have a very active email network (listserv) that allows members to email the Florida CUREN membership with any of the questions they may need to research at a moment’s notice. This email capability can help to keep your credit union current with latest trends and issues related to the real estate market. Smaller credit unions benefit from the resources of the larger credit union member’s advice from their compliance attorneys. In turn, the larger credit unions have compared this advice with other larger credit unions. All of these networking options can strengthen your real estate program vastly and will aid your credit union in staying current with the many changes in real estate compliance and trends. You’ll find that our Florida CUREN Board of Directors has remained consistent over the last 8 years since its inception in offering a great service to our members. Florence Boni, Treasurer. Mortgage Operations Manager, Tropical Financial Credit Union Miriam Mitchell, Secretary. Director of Real Estate Lending, Central Florida Educators Federal Credit Union Lori Allen, Vice president. Vice President of Mortgage Lending, Vystar Credit Union Tanya Stead, Board President. Real Estate Manager, USF Federal Credit Union I look forward to speaking with you about the possibility of your participation in the Florida CUREN. From the Desk of the PresidentAs Real Estate professionals we have all just come through three of the most challenging years in real estate history. We have experienced historically low interest rates and on the other hand historically high delinquency rates. We have seen positions change from originators to loss-mitigators. These are definitely times that we will never forget. Since most of these troubled waters have not been navigated before what a great opportunity it is to be involved with the Florida CUREN. Our Board of Directors is diligent to provide its members an educational program that covers everything from upcoming regulatory changes to credit union best practices. It is up to you, our membership, to take advantage of this valuable resource that is available. We encourage you to get involved; provide us with topics that you would like further information on or issues that are developing in your area. By working together and combining our talents we can make the Florida CUREN the best educational resource available. We have begun to work on the 2011 Calendar and would encourage each and every member to make a conscience effort to attend these important and informative meetings. We will continue to provide three meetings per year and will be trying to move the event through out to year to locations that will be convenient for you. We understand that times are more difficult than ever for travel and will make every effort to make your attendance at these meetings as cost effective as possible. Thank you for your continued support and I am looking forward to seeing you at our next meeting. Tanya N Stead CUREN Officials
