Presidents Letter:
What an exciting time to start out 2009! We have historic low first mortgage
rates, historic low Prime Rate for our HELOC programs, and historic declining
values in real estate resulting in all time record high foreclosure and delinquency
rates in our mortgage portfolios. Wow! We are the ones that will tell our children
and grandchildren exactly how this story will unfold.
Knowing these issues are
going to challenge each one of our Florida CUREN members, I'm proud to be a part
of a great network that can support you through these trying times. We have a
dedicated and hard working Board of Directors and three very motivated committees
to develop your CUREN meetings and bring important topics to light. It is up
to you, our membership, to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and let's
work together to develop the Florida CUREN to it's fullest potential. I'm open
for any ideas or topics you'd like us to research and bring forth in one of our
meetings. It is in the sharing of our combined talents which will benefit our
group as a whole and as individuals that we will all profit from the success
of the Florida CUREN.
I'm anxious to get started as the Board Members and Committee
members worked through our annual Planning Session at Insight Financial Credit
Union. I feel we've developed a strong educational program for 2009. We'd like
to thank Don Genevie with Grow Financial Credit Union who has graciously offered
to host our first meeting of the new year. A new strategy for 2009 is that our
meeting locations will be in central Florida this year. This strategy is to assist
our members from having to travel to far to attend a meeting and hopefully eliminate
some of the travel expense. We've been able to keep the cost of our meetings
to very minimal with a low renewal fee of only $150 a year per member credit
union with up to 3 employees attending from your credit union free of charge.
This is a nominal fee for the value you get by actively participating in the
networking sessions and meeting your peers at other credit unions. Again, it
is in sharing our talents and experiences that will make each of our credit unions
successful as a whole.
Thank you for your support in 2009! I'm looking forward
to seeing you in February!
