About ACUMA
The American Credit Union Mortgage Association is an organization of and for credit unions dedicated to the simple principle that credit unions have both an obligation and a competitive need to become a “premier provider of home loans for their membership.” ACUMA’s Mission is to be “THE RESOURCE” for Credit Unions seriously engaged in the business of Home Finance.
The American Credit Union Mortgage Association brings together the shared real estate lending and financing interests of nearly 8,000 credit unions and CUSOs. ACUMA member organizations include federal and state chartered credit unions and CUSOs, mortgage insurance companies, secondary market investors and investment banking firms, and technology companies operating in the field of mortgage banking.

- is a Credit union owned and operated—our board of directors comes from within the credit union community,
- has strong association management with expertise unique to the credit union marketplace,
- Works to build and strengthen business relations and contacts with the nation’s REALTORS®
- is focused on networking as a means of sharing information, ideas and experiences without any bias or prejudice to any product or service,
- produces professional conferences, workshops and electronic communications (web casts) which are professionally managed and competitively priced,
- recognizes a fundamental role in the continued growth and development of real estate lending in the credit union industry, as well as our responsibility to issuers and investors.
ACUMA supports the CUREN (Credit Union Real Estate Network). CUREN is an informal coalition of regional credit unions, CUSOs and industry leaders providing members access to a large and more diverse pool of research than would otherwise be possible.
ACUMA is involved in a wide range of educational initiatives aimed at streamlining performance, processes and procedures within the credit union real estate lending environment. Educational topics include Asset Liability Management (ALM); Regulatory and Compliance; Communicating with REALTORS® and Builders; Innovative uses of Technology; and Marketing and Growth strategies. Case study and “best practices” presentations are included on every ACUMA educational agenda.
